Position Overview
Diagnose faults in product and equipment that does not perform to specifications. Technicians may repair test equipment depending upon customer & complexity of repair.
Test Technician Accountabilities
Quality:
- Use various test technologies to diagnose the cause of test failures to the component level
- Participate on Quality oriented teams
- Cross train to gain proficiency in other test related tasks as assigned
- Supports continuous improvement and assist all aspects of test for assigned Area or Customer(s)
- Tracks and reports key test metrics relevant to the assigned Customer (MES defect data entry)
- Improve existing processes, testing and otherwise, using Lean Six Sigma methods
- Supports engineering analyses and experiments as required
- Supports audits to ensure Testing Process Documentation is appropriate
- Ensure timely internal feedback of all test issues until resolved
- Support training of test operators as needed
Productivity:
- Support one-piece flow
- Support Lean initiatives
- Support the identification and removal of out of scope test activities
- Support new product introduction, and production trials for identification and resolution of quality issues
- Capable of MDA (Mfg defects analysis) & functional level debug to the component level
- Familiar with analog and digital circuit performance
- Proficient at ICT, FTA, ESS, VIBE, Tests and trouble shoot
Cost:
- Support cost reduction targets COPQ (cost of poor quality)
- Support and communicate dept test policies that relate to team
- Support the collection and submittal of test improvement ideas from team
Customer Service:
- Ensure that all testing meets Customer requirements
- Support test operators as first line of support for day to day questions
- Respond quickly and appropriately to both internal and external customers
Administration:
- Keep in line with company’s accredited certifications and safety policy
Position Qualifications:
Minimum Education: Associates in Applied Science degree in electronics or equivalent experience
Minimum Experience: At least 2 years experience in a similar position troubleshooting PCBAs to component level
Other Skills/Knowledge/Experience:
- 3 years debug experience in either digital hardware or linear/RF electronic with a strong digital background.
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- Six Sigma training (e.g. greenbelt) preferred
- Capable of reading PCBA schematics
- Understanding test methods and part characteristic (i.e. data sheets)
Computer Skills:
- Basic Microsoft office programs (Word, Excel, etc) as evidenced by the ability to manipulate files such as unreleased test instructions, save, open and organize electronic files.
- Basic Excel skills as evidenced by the ability to use workbooks, create simple formulas, insert and delete data, create and edit charts, filter and sort lists, and format and interpret data.
